Ramesh Chand Kohli, the founder and driving force behind LEME Group, passed away at the age of 67 leaving his legacy to his wife and two sons. Born in 1946 in Kisumu, Kenya, he was the youngest son to the late D.B Kohli, a renowned lawyer who was instrumental in writing the Kenyan constitution.
After graduating from Liverpool University, Kohli moved back to Kenya to set his entrepreneurial sights on the automotive industry. Auto Hard Kenya was established in Kisumu in 1975 and soon became the first company in West Kenya to provide a complete friction material supply and service facility, offering brake re-lining, pressure plate re-building, and brake disc services. Auto Hard is a pioneer in the friction materials industry, supplying products to over 100 transporters in East Africa and servicing almost 90% of the transport industry in the western region.
In 2006, Kohli co-founded and established Laser and Electronics Middle East LLC (LEME Group) in the UAE together with his younger son Sanuj Kohli. His older son Rishi Kohli joined the company in 2008.
The Group is now chaired by Ramesh Kohli’s wife, Aruna Kohli, and the businesses are managed by his sons.
